Weekly Wins June 5, 2015

This week in the world of digital

It’s Friday! You know what that means. Beautiful freedom is on your horizon. Two whole days of glorious, independent nothingness.

As you get ready to crack a beautiful cold one to celebrate, welcome to The Weekly Wins – a new feature we’re going to share every Friday. The Weekly Wins are the things, ideas, and content that got us excited throughout the week about the world of digital.

This is the digital stuff that got us amped up about the future possibilities of the industry that we love.

1. Google’s New Project, Soli

Google is using radar technology to make everyday items wayyy more cool. A tiny little computer chip gives you the ability to make all of your devices hands free. Ever see someone play a Theremin? That’s what it will look like when you fiddle with your watch. Check this crazy radar project out.

2. Levi’s Creates Smart Jeans

Wearable tech is all the rage, just like mom jeans, but this item is woven in to the fabric of your everyday life (get it??). Can you imagine your pants telling you that you’ve put on some weight? Well get your head around it because it’s a not too distant reality.

3. Handpick, an App For Foodies

Do you suffer from a kitchen creativity deficiency? There’s an app for that. Handpick let’s you input a mishmash of ingredients and turn them in to a culinary delight.

4. Marketing With Snapchat

Not too long ago Snapchat was considered nothing more than a toy for teens. Marketers are quickly waking up to the potential of this story sharing app, however. Here’s some of the most creative Snapchat marketing hits.

5. Crowdfunded Short, with a side of Kung Fury

Kung Fury is a future classic and it also happens to be Creative Director Jackson’s favourite film of all time, or at least this week. He won’t shut up about it. An ode to the golden era of action cop flicks (the 80’s, of course) Kung Fury delivers thrills on an impressively small budget and showcases what one dude can do with a bit of digital know-how and some creativity.
